The Jerusalem District Court recently ruled that several Palestinian families living in Sheikh Jarrah, a small district in East Jerusalem mainly occupied by Palestinians, were to be evicted this coming Sunday.
The court based the justified the move on the basis of documents submitted to the court showing that Jews owned the land where the houses are built in the area prior to 1948, although the veracity of this evidence is contested by lawyers representing Palestinian residents.
According to local reports, about 120 residents in total could be facing eviction between Sunday and August due to the ruling.
